Oral and Maxillofacial surgery refers to the extensive branch of dentistry that deals with the severe problems related to jaws, face, mouth and neck. The problems include oral cancers, impacted teeth, facial disproportion, salivary gland diseases, facial pain, temporomandibular joint disorders, mouth ulcers, and pathology of jaw bones, cyst and tumors. Maxillofacial surgeons are trained in oral surgery. They help general dentists and orthodontist in many cosmetic surgeries.
